TORPG is a game currently being coded by Ben McIlwain, Stephen Ratpojanakul, Greg Tucker, and Vincent Wong. Programming takes place in Ms. Collins Software Design class atMontgomery Blair High School in room 316.
  • TORPG is a roguelike game, similar to games such as Nethack or Slash'em. It is an improvement over previous roguelike games in that it is graphical, making it accessible to a larger numbers of modern gamers not used to ASCII-basedgames.
  • TORPG brings these innovations to the pack:
    • a graphical interface
    • a futuristic instead of fantasy setting
    • a very elaborate inventory system, involving individual modulesthat can gain experience
  • The resolution of the main game display screen is 1000x800, with a200 pixel wide frame on the left of the screen taken up by the interface.
  • The interface contains the player's stats such as shielding, integrity, experience, bits, etc.
  • The player must survive all the way down to the end of thedungeon; all the while, the enemies get progressively harder. The player will find various modules and tools to use that willupgrade and make the player tougher.
  • ASMs (Automated Shop Machines) will be found along the wayto repair, upgrade, buy, and sell modules.
  • The game is turn-based, in the fashion of:the player gets a turn, then the monsters, then the player, etc.
  • There are two types of items the player will find in the game:modules, and tools.
    • Modules are equipped into a slot and will continue working for as long as they survive.
    • Tools, on the other hand, are one use, and will vanish upon using them.
