A showdown in the government over the war
Wow, this is really amazing. It looks like there’s going to be a showdown between Congress and George W. Bush over this war. Senator Ted Kennedy just announced he’s proposing a new bill in Congress that will prevent Bush from escalating the war without (1) clearly explaining a plan for success and (2) getting Congress’ approval.
This comes a day before Bush is expected to make his speech announcing a “surge” of troops in Iraq, which the vast majority of the American people do not agree with. Anyway, go Democrats! Hopefully we’ll finally get what we voted for in November: some sort of a check on this ridiculous warmongering.
