More Aqua Teen Hunger Force lunacy

Yesterday I wrote about Boston’s completely overblown response to a marketing campaign. They shut down sections of the city (and two bridges), called out hundreds of police officers, brought out bomb squads, etc., all to deal with flashing LED signs promoting Aqua Teen Hunger Force. It makes them look stupid, as it should, but rather than accepting that they made a mistake, they’re going ahead full bore, charging the two people responsible for the advertising campaign with trumped-up felonies.

CNN has another article today on the “scare” that contains this absolutely insipid statement:

Assistant Attorney General John Grossman called the light boards “bomblike” devices and said that if they had been explosive they could have damaged infrastructure and transportation in the city.

Indeed, and Apple Computer Corp. should be shut down because if iPods were explosive, they could have killed millions of people. What kinds of idiots fall for this line of logic?! It’s a nonsense argument because they weren’t explosive, and so their proximity to “infrastructure and transportation in the city” is irrelevant! Plus, how many places are there in Boston that aren’t close to “infrastructure and transportation”? Jesus Christ, there’s mailboxes everywhere, and they’re all next to roads … if they were explosive, we’d be screwed!
