Quite a mind-numbing display you have here. I long to return to the days when every child and their grandma didn’t have internet access and it wasn’t such a clusterfuck of nonsense and sites designed for the sole purpose of making money.

Anytime I share my opinion on how I feel the internet used to be good, the reactions I get tend to be “What? Frames and bad GIFs?”. Those people are either idiots that don’t deserve a good internet (and likely have contributed to the internet turning into the trash it is now) or kids too young to remember the good ‘ol days.

I’d love to leave a page long rant about the moronic youth of today and how bad the internet has become, but reading through this idiocy has left me mentally exhausted.

Looking back, I wonder why I even felt the need to make this post (which ended up longer than intended). But since I spent a fair amount of time typing it up (something most kids who type incoherent babble know nothing of), it’d be a waste to just delete it. Oh well.

I have only to say something about eyes and some spambot swoops in and copies the title and links to a plausible threat site. Grrr! This thread is starting to grow a bunch of offal!
Oh my, now there will be a vermin removal advertisement… M. Weys, you may wish to monitor these possible risks.

I know I lack perfect grammar skills, but my god, at least attempt to create a coherent sentence. I feel like gouging my eyes after reading many of the comments written here.
I have to ask: can the majority of people who commented here….read?
As many have said before on this page, I knew the children of this generation were in bad shape, but this is ridiculously sad. I can only hope (in vain) that this was a prank pulled by a site like 4chan.

What is demotivating is that I know many adults who could have possibly written comments exactly like these. What makes it worst is that I am 18 and still know people as idiotic as many of the posters here.
Give people the powers of instant communication, and they show true idiocy.

I’ve a couple of points to address:

First of all, researching interactive online games prior to allowing my children access only seems to make perfect sense, but I see here within the many posts that this may not be the norm. It’s a shame to see so many obvious teens and pre-teens disregarding their privacy for what may seem to be a great MMO. After reading your blog, Zwinky seems more like a ‘bug zapper’; seemingly harmless and inviting from a safe distance, luring the unsuspecting to their doo… well, maybe not quite that dramatic, but you get my point. :P

Needless to say; thanks for the insight and rest assured that we’ll be avoiding Zwinky like the plague.

Another issue you’ve confronted herein is the lack of concern for what we would consider ‘proper education’ and proper written English. Praise be to acronyms and a variety of other nifty inventions that have been created to appease the ‘instant gratification gods’ for now society has devolved just a little bit more. I don’t know whether to ‘lol’ or try to cut/paste an angry smiley to punctuate that sentence.

I stumbled on this out of boredom at work and typing into google the words “the internet sucks” which linked me to a blog ABOUT this blog. Anyways, this is fantastic. I suppose it seems a bit hypocritical to say this in a comment but I LOATHE the internet because of…well, comments. I believe the internet is bringing about the destruction of the written word and for two reasons, both of them flailed about here quite freely.

Reason #1: grammar. Just because it’s quicker, doesn’t mean it’s okay to misspell everything or make your ridiculous rant into one gigantic caps-locked sentence. Not that long ago when people wrote things, they actually had to use a pen and paper and you know what? They wrote the whole damn words in properly formed, correctly punctuated sentences. Why? Because the way you write is a direct reflection of your intelligence level that you are putting out there. Typically, most people who wrote anything down at all weren’t necessarily professional writers, but they still made an effort to not look stupid.

Reason #2: the internet spreads the idea that everyone cares what you have to say when the truth is they likely don’t. I find it ironic that the majority of the people with their idiotic comments on here surely are boiling over with an undeserved sense of self-importance bestowed onto them by the words “Submit Comment” yet they they fail to understand that no one who will agree with them or relate to them will read their post since they will be too busy scrolling to the bottom to find that very same button. This sad truth is verified by the fact that 99.999% (see what I did there…) of the contributors failed to even read the blog to begin with. The core lesson here that sadly will be ignored by all but the people who already believe and understand this is that just because you CAN say something doesn’t mean you SHOULD.
