I have to take your modest proposal at the end without much seriousness, although I think &lt;i&gt;either&lt;/i&gt; of those conditions would be sufficient. I know that there are plenty of indie developers out there who release without DRM, activation servers, or any of that other stuff, and gain customers because of it, and that seems like the way to go. (On the other hand, the Dreamcast was incredibly piracy-friendly, and I encountered a huge number of illicit copies of Dreamcast games when I entered college, among people who were not very tech-savvy).

Also, I think that what he might be getting at is that PC gaming (and console gaming) may move more towards the software-as-a-service model; games that would have an expiration date, effectively. AFAIK there are DRM systems that haven&#039;t been broken that require authorization, e.g. the old Google Video system. Will gamers go for this? If Halo 7 is only released SaaS, yes, I think they will. For some disposable types of games, like football or basketball with current player data, it almost makes sense.</description>
